My Pregnancy Highlights

I cant believe I have made it to the 38 week mark so fast! Although at times this pregnancy has felt very long, in all it has flown by. As most of you may know, my oldest son (and only child) is 12 so I always told myself that if I have another child I would want to document every single step during the pregnancy. I planned how fabulous I would be along the way. Umm yeah right! Okay, although this pregnancy hasn’t been all peaches and cream I really can’t complain. We are having a baby girl (which is what we wanted) I am all baby, yes I have only gained about 4-5 pounds tops! I’m not bragging or anything but I was afraid that this time around I would have gained about 50 pounds. I thought I would roll out all the blog posts about this journey, but instead I decided to stay a little more private on all the details which felt more natural to me.

My one problem area during tis pregnancy has been my skin, my breakouts are just horrible at times. Nothing I mean nothing works on my skin, I had to change my normal skin routine but still nothing works. I would have a few days of decent bright skin  but then I would breakout again, so I’ve given up on that. I just ensure that my skin is clean, exfoliated, and moisturized (did I mention my skin is dry).

I must admit this pregnancy has been rougher than the first time around, I hear carrying a girl is hard enough but I am also 12 years older than I was before. The pelvic pressure started early this time around, towards the end of the 1st trimester! I went from being on track health wise to being anemic which slowed down my weight gain and caused me to work a little harder to ensure my baby is healthy (still taking my iron supplements everyday and iron packed veggies).

This pregnancy I have some photogenic days and somedays where I don’t want to be bothered. Some days are a struggle and some days I feel fabulous. Did I mention its summer time in Florida?! Word of advice, avoid being pregnant in the summertime, especially in the 3rd trimester. I have to stay twice as hydrated, did have to take a hospital visit for dehydration.

Lets talk about cravings, my cravings weren’t too bad, I craved the same things most of the time. She is obviously a picky eater like her brother was, my issue was that I wasn’t eating everything in sight like most, if I didn’t get what I was craving then I didn’t want to eat. But my cravings have intensified during this 3rd trimester which I am loving, The late night cravings which most of the time he can run out and get for me but the late late night ones when everything is closed is what drives me crazy. I should also mention the acid reflux and heartburn which makes me miserable! Zantac and TUMS are my best friends. No matter what I eat or don’t eat the acid reflux keeps me up at night. We are not even going to talk about my mood swings (that probably would be a whole other blog post).

All in all this pregnancy has been a rollercoaster, I have focused less on my business and decided to focus on embracing the journey. Life moves fast at times; I published my book and journal, and even hosted 2 events. After pushing myself hard to accomplish my goals I have now taken the time to just relax and get ready for her arrival. I am at such a calming place, I feel so blessed as we patiently await her debut.
