Turmeric! And Its Many Benefits
Turmeric, very much like ginger, is a powerful plant grown from the root. This small plant/herb is packed with so many benefits but unfortunately not many know all the wonderful benefits of turmeric. I’m sure you probably pass it in the grocery store every week and never think to buy it because it may be pricey to you or you just don’t know enough about it to know what to do with it.
Turmeric does not only have many health benefits but it has awesome benefits for the skin. I have made it a habit to add a tiny bit to my recipes as I am cooking, mixing it with my seasoning, stir-fry, and add a little to smoothies. I also add to my detox water, as well as tea. A small amount goes a long way, not to mention my family doesn’t even notice it. Don’t go turmeric crazy and adding it to everything, maybe add a bit to a dish a day. Lets get into a few of the health benefits of this super plant:
- Weight management/ metablo
- Act as an anti-inflammatory
- Assists in preventing cancer
- Lowers cholesterol
- Strengthens ligaments
- Regulates blood sugar
- Helps coughs and asthma
Among many many other benefits. Just a dash in your food will make all the difference in your health.
Along with the my day to day recipes I also use tumeric on my skin, this plant contains potassium which assists in moisturizing and hydrating skin cells. It aids in:
- curing acne
- lightening acne scars and dark spots
- anti-aging
- oily/ dry skin
I like to make homemade masks using turmeric, I try different masks depending on what I feel my skin needs. Mixing turmeric with milk, coconut oil, honey, or even yogurt (not all together of course lol) will give you awesome healthy and glowing skin. Many of you who know me knows I am all for natural and healthy benefits for the mind, body, and soul.
Before using this please be sure to consult your doctor if you have any medical conditions, using it in your recipes is considered safe. Also, using tumeric on the skin may leave a yellow hue but it can easily be washed off.
