Why Is Self Care So Important?

As a working mother your schedule is crazy with no time for anything outside of work, home, and family; so who says you have time for self care? That’s a luxury that you just don’t have time for. Let me let you in on a little secret, self care is not a luxury at all! It’s actually a necessity. Yes, a necessity. How can you function and balance all the things you have on your schedule without suffering from burn out of you don’t make time for self care?

Self care should be written in you planner or added to your calendar if you want to get technical. Not written in pencil, but in pen. Which means there is no way of getting around it. I encounter so many moms who just tell me they have no time for self care. After digging a little deeper I find that they really don’t understand the importance of making time for self care. You’re probably one of those moms who just doesn’t get it, or maybe you do but think that your schedule just doesn’t have any space for it. You ever heard of the saying “you make time for what you want to make time for”? Its just that simple. There are so many ways as a busy mom that you can free up a little time on your busy schedule to make a little time for yourself. On the contrary, I know that it is much easier said than done.

Due to it being so hard for busy moms to really focus on themselves and making themselves happy and feel good I decided to branch out a little with the Real Talks With G brand. I really wanted to focus more on the happiness of moms. After starting all over and having my daughter last year I suffered with postpartum hair loss which I elaborated on in my previous post which you can read here. Once I shared my experience I was amazed at how many women went through the same exact thing, I remember how I felt going through that, it brought my self esteem down and made me feel ugly. Once I picked myself up I decided to do something about it. I started using my hair oils and was patient with the process. Before I knew it my edges grew back and started feeling better about myself. That was part of my self care journey. As mothers we cannot focus on everyone else and not on ourselves. You have to do things to make you happy and feel good about yourself.

That is why I am introducing Nourish You, an extension of Real Talks With G. The self care portion where we will be introducing different products promoting self care.
